Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP meets with officials from National Highways and contractor Kier to view progress on the A417 scheme.
Sir Geoffrey said:
“It was very useful to be able to spend a morning with senior officials from National Highways and their contractor Kier. Firstly we met in their offices and were able to discuss in detail a number of property issues which constituents have raised. Secondly, we had a comprehensive tour of the entire scheme. This was the first time that I have been able to drive almost the entire route of the scheme. I saw a number of the steep valleys which will be infilled to provide a road of acceptable gradient. Significant progress has been made in removing all the necessary trees, moving the road below the air balloon roundabout, and installation of the new Ullenwood roundabout. In addition, most of the topsoil has been removed so that the route is clearly visible. Despite delays caused by the weather, everyone was confident that the road would be completed by the target of spring 2027.”
