I was first elected to the position of Vice Chairman Political in September 2021. I am responsible for coordinating within the Constituency Association, the formulation and development of policy ideas and initiatives, and political campaigning. In short my job is to fight and win elections. With a degree in Politics and a career in advertising and marketing I have a lot of relevant experience. Having been a District Councillor here in the Cotswolds from 2003 til 2019, I have first hand experience of what it takes to win an election.
As Candidate for the Coln Valley Ward my pledges are:
I will work with the MP and County Councillor to fight to reduce pollution in the River Coln
I will work to reduce anti-social behaviour in your villages specifically dog fouling, fly tipping and speeding
I will work with the County Council to maximise the funding for pot hole repairs
Above all I will do my best to continue in the footsteps of Councillor Ray Theodoulou, a much loved and respected servant of the Coln Valley community for 20 years
I first moved to Barnsley in the Cotswolds 34 years ago and have lived locally across the Coln Valley ever since. I have three grown up daughters who all went to school at Hatherop.
I have a great deal of local government and voluntary work experience and have a reputation for getting things done. In 2003 I was first elected as the CDC Councillor to represent The Ampneys & Hampton Ward which adjoins the Coln Valley Ward. This has given me a wealth of experience as a CDC Councillor, having held three cabinet posts. First the Environment Portfolio in which I dealt with flood mitigation. Secondly I took on the Leisure portfolio during which time we built the Cotswold Leisure Centre and finally managing the Economy portfolio when we rebuilt New Brewery Arts. One of my proudest achievements was conceiving fund raising and delivering the First World War Human Poppy Commemoration Event in Cirencester in 2018, which made the national press.
A year ago when Cllr Ray Theodoulou decided not to stand in the forthcoming May elections for the Coln Valley Ward he recommended that I should stand as the Conservative Candidate in his place. Over the last 12 months I have greatly enjoyed visiting the villages in the Coln Valley and knocking on as many doors as possible. If I haven’t met you already I hope to do so before the 4th May.
I am very committed to serving my local community and I hope to be able to do this for you all in the Coln Valley Ward.
