A strong local voice for Bourton Vale Ward
My Pledges:
- To represent the interests of the Ward’s residents and promote viable green issues
- To balance the needs of residents, businesses and tourists
- To review the local restrictions put on planning, leading to the loss of residents’ democratic rights
I have lived in the Bourton Vale Ward for twenty-six years. During this time I have served as a District Councillor from 2007 to 2019 and was invited to join my local Parish Council as a co-opted member. I believe it is the duty of a Councillor to do their best to represent the interests of all the local people. I am passionate about the care we give to our villages and the quality of life they provide for residents. We need a balance between the needs of residents, business and tourists as well as a duty to provide housing for all local residents in accordance with our Cotswold heritage. Mass tourism has had a dramatic impact on our Cotswolds and this needs addressing. In some villages over 20% of the housing stock is dedicated to housing lets and second homes. I am aware of the recent restrictions and issues with the planning processes over the last couple of years as well as the loss of residents democratic rights. I believe we need a review of the planning system to correct this. As the candidate for your Ward I will listen to your suggestions and needs, with a view to helping you both improve your villages and provide the accommodation needed by both young and old. I joined the local Conservative party as they were like minded people wanting to improve the Cotswolds and put the area into a better position. Please vote for me and help me to achieve these objectives.
